SPINNING A YARN

The Sewing Room celebrates WA songwriters. From 5pm to 8pm on a Friday afternoon you can witness some WA acoustic goodness with a stripped back 4 person storytelling song panel named ‘Spinning a Yarn’. 

Inspired by the Nashville Country scene, this showcase event will see 4 voices taking to the stage all at once, sitting in a row, playing songs one after each other, showing off their songwriting abilities and sharing the stories behind their songs.

Winter Wednesday presents: KATE PASS KOHESIA ENSEMBLE

Journey with Kohesia Ensemble and experience the evocative sounds of Persian music played in a unique jazz style. Led by double bassist Kate Pass, the Kohesia Ensemble serves as a platform for Kate’s original compositions, which are influenced by her passion for both jazz and Persian music. Kohesia Ensemble explores unusual time structures and microtonal melodies for a captivating listening experience. Kohesia Ensemble presents a night of original music that will transport you to another place. Having released their debut album “Kohesia” in June 2018, Kohesia Ensemble was nominated for 2018 WAM Best Album, Best Jazz Act and Best World Act. Kohesia Ensemble was also shortlisted for the Martin Sims Award at Fringe World Festival (2019). Kohesia Ensemble has performed at an array of festivals including National Folk Festival (ACT), Illawarra Folk Festival (NSW), Fairbridge Festival, WAMFest, Perth International Jazz Festival and Nannup Music Festival.  “Kohesia is excellence, pure and simple” – John Hardaker

Chocolate & Wine Masterclass

The Margaret River Chocolate Company has matched its mouth-watering chocolates with wines from sister company Coward & Black Vineyards to create an amazing Chocolate & Wine masterclass experience.

Participants learn all about chocolate and wine and get to taste a range of single origin chocolates as well as pairing chocolates to a variety of red, white, sparkling and dessert wines. The classes also include tastings of three Sambarino chocolate liqueurs, along with a free bottle to take home. They run at the funky new bar in the city, The Sewing Room.
