a performance of original compositions influenced by Afro-Peruvian rhythms and fresh, unique arrangements of Peruvian folk songs. Combining infectious grooves, emotive melodies, risk‐taking improvisation and extreme dynamics, the Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group “radiates a joyful energy that infects not just the band members but the entire auditorium” – Sydney Morning Herald.

Get on your feet and pull your dancing shoes on. King Street Corner Pocket’s Closing Night is full of party vibes with huge live music running deep into the night. The WAAPA Phat Funk band will kick the night off, featuring soul favourites, big vocals and funk with a capital F. Then the heat turns up, with Hornography pumping the brass up to 11 and exploding with the best horn section going around. Throughout the night, DJ Mama Cass will be spinning the decks with party tunes to keep the vibe going as Corner Pocket goes out with a bang.

Launching on Friday July 13 in the basement club and music venue The Sewing Room, with an impressive cast of local and national music makers. Including live sets from Melbourne creative Military Position (Trapdoor Tapes / Armour Group), the confronting sound of doublethink Prism, the beautiful glitchy live stylings of Hi, OK, Sorry. Plus sets from Aussie Goth and Cruzr Punk.

SWEET POP UP NIGHTCLUB

After successfully launching Perth’s newest live music venue – The Sewing Room – late last year, the team behind WA’s iconic Margaret River Chocolate Company has now unveiled its plans for a pop-up night club, appropriately named Sweet.

Sweet will be Perth’s only free entry, pop-up nightclub and will run every Saturday night from 10pm-4am – starting May 12.

Alana Macpherson plus 11

Perth sax legend Alana Macpherson will lead this band of misfits performing the music from the classic 1959 Art Pepper + Eleven album arranged by Marty Paich. Alana is a formidable saxophonist who leads here very own Alana Macpherson Nonet and has led the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra saxophone section for many years. This will be one of the last chances you will get to hear Alana perform before she travels to Europe to study jazz a masters in jazz composition at the University of Graz, Austria.
