Fed up with the classic sausage sizzle, bake sale and searching for a long lost rich relative, Runaway is a live music fundraiser event held by Curtin University Screen Arts students. All proceeds will go towards the production costs of a final year showcase film, titled; ‘The Runaway.’ Set in rural Western Australia, the film is an adventure/drama piece following the story of Jasmine, a teenager who leaves her small country town in search of something new, only to quickly discover that starting a life over is not as simple as she had once hoped. The event features: Ivy Dream, an indie rock band who deliver lyrical tunes and mellow harmonies. four-piece punk band, Nervous. Karmalade, who have built their own unique sound out of classic, blues and garage rock, and P.E.P talk, a six-piece band of Positive Energy People. We also have guest DJs Larry D, Le(t)slie, D33p b0rk and Malibu Stacey. Film projects, even the small ones, become very expensive very quickly! So come down, have a dance, enjoy some amazing local talent, and help support WA made film.
